‘Transformative’ - In just five years, we’ve not only built a business, but created an ecosystem of couriers, partners, customers, and colleagues who trust and rely on us every day.
For the second story in our anniversary series, we spoke with Rajesh Singh. As Director of Product for couriers, Rajesh has played a key role in shaping how Wolt supports its courier community — tackling some of the toughest challenges and helping create lasting impact.
Wolt has grown from a small challenger into a trusted platform that’s part of daily life. It’s not just about scale — we’ve matured in how we operate, partner, and collaborate. That sophistication is what makes us stronger today.
One of the toughest challenges was improving courier pay. The system was unbalanced — pay varied too much and wasn’t transparent enough, which led to frustration and even protests in some markets. Fixing it meant deep collaboration across legal, comms, operations, and product. It was a reminder that when we align, stay persistent, and work together, we can solve even the hardest problems and build trust with couriers.
Professionally, this has been the most formative chapter of my career. I’ve learned to balance data and intuition, and to make bold but thoughtful decisions. Personally, I’ve gained friendships, a sense of purpose, and the motivation that comes from building something that touches people’s lives every day.
Our humility and collaboration. Titles don’t matter here — everyone rolls up their sleeves, and good ideas can come from anywhere. That openness keeps innovation alive.
Transformative. We’ve gone from being a newcomer to an ecosystem trusted by couriers, customers, and partners. For me, it’s also been transformative to grow alongside the challenges.
Expand customer choice beyond food, strengthen courier opportunities with simple and transparent systems, and continue building responsibly while making daily life easier.
During COVID, I met a student who had just lost his job as a waiter and was terrified about his future. I suggested couriering with Wolt, and a few weeks later he told me it gave him the stability he needed to get through that time. That’s when I realized Wolt isn’t just a platform — it can be a lifeline.
Vegetable Biryani from Zusshu in Berlin. It’s become a bit of an addiction — easily some of the best biryani I’ve had.
Thank you, Rajesh, for sharing your reflections on growth, culture, and the impact Wolt can have on people’s lives.
