From day one to year five, we’ve built Wolt Germany around people: our customers, our partners, and the cities we serve.

5 years. 5 stories. // Featuring: Laurin Sepoetro, Head of Public Policy, Markets

For the final story in our anniversary series, we spoke with Laurin Sepoetro. Joining Wolt during the delivery boom, Laurin has helped shape how Wolt operates in Germany’s competitive landscape — always with an eye on policy, culture, and the bigger mission of supporting local commerce.

Q: How did your journey with Wolt in Germany begin, and what motivated you to join the team?

I joined in September 2021, right in the middle of the post-COVID delivery boom when new players were appearing everywhere. What made Wolt stand out to me was the consumer app — the UX felt like a true tech company was behind it — and the bigger mission to empowerbrick-and-mortar retail. That combination made me want to be part of building something meaningful while also growing as a professional.

Q: In your eyes, how has Wolt in Germany evolved since the beginning?

In just five years, we’ve built something remarkable in one of the toughest, most competitive markets. While others have come and gone, our team has firmly established Wolt in Germany, growing steadily, city by city, through strong partnerships with merchants, couriers, and municipal stakeholders.

Q: What was the biggest challenge you’ve faced, and how did it shape you or the team?

We started as a three people global team covering more than 20 countries, which taught us to focus, stay creative, and do common things uncommonly well. Now, with a team of over 20, we still live by that spirit.

Q: How has Wolt impacted your personal or professional life?

I feel lucky to have grown with Wolt — learning, building, and being inspired every day by amazing teammates.

Q: What’s one thing about the Wolt culture in Germany that makes you proud?

From day one to year five, we’ve built Wolt Germany around people:  our customers, our partners, and the cities we serve.

Q: If you had to describe the past 5 years in one phrase?

Sky is the limit. In one of the most competitive and well-funded markets, we’ve not only established ourselves but continue to grow — driven by our energy, resilience, and culture.

Q: What do you hope Wolt in Germany will achieve in the next 5 years?

That we’ll show more and more people that Wolt is an asset to the German economy — empowering local commerce, creating opportunities, bringing convenience to customers, and contributing to vibrant, livable cities across the country.

Q: What message would you like to share as Wolt celebrates 5 years in Germany?

Five years in Germany — and this is only the beginning! This is a special place: roll up your sleeves, buckle up, and let’s keep steering this ship together.

Q: What’s your favorite order on Wolt?

Chicken Char Siu — you can’t go wrong with it.

Thank you, Laurin, for sharing your perspective on Wolt’s role in shaping Germany’s delivery market — and the opportunities still ahead.

With this, we close our “5 years. 5 people. 5 voices. 5 stories” series. Together, these stories show not just how far Wolt has come, but also the people and culture that made it possible. Here’s to the next five years — and beyond.
