The delivery platform Wolt, which launched operations in Luxembourg in February, has hired Tomás Etcheverry as the new General Manager for the company in the Grand Duchy.

Tomás Etcheverry, while originally educated as an engineer from the Buenos Aires Institute of Technology, has a long career in the digital commerce business, most recently leading international expansion for Amazon from Luxembourg. Previously he held positions at Oracle and AB InBev in Argentina. Etcheverry was born in Argentina and has lived in Luxembourg for five years with his partner.

“We are super-excited about having Tomás on the team," said Henrik Pankakoski, Regional General Manager, Region North at Wolt. "With his experience in e-commerce and digital services, and setting up European operations for Amazon, he was the perfect candidate to take on this role. Wolt has already made an impact in Luxembourg, but there are many more opportunities in the Grand Duchy that remain to be explored by Tomás and his team".

“Wolt is an exciting company, and it’s impossible not to have noticed its growth since they came to Luxembourg and revolutionized the delivery industry here. And as Henrik said there are so many untapped opportunities to increase convenience for our customers, and add revenue to our restaurant and retail partners,” said Tomás Etcheverry, General Manager at Wolt Luxembourg. He joined Wolt on 16 September and has since been focusing on the operation side of the business.

“Our Luxembourg team of 20+ is relatively small but very dedicated, and I have been impressed by the professionalism and energy in the office. In many ways, the energy and speed at Wolt today are reminiscent of the stories of Amazon in the early days. One example of this innovative culture is the new feature launched recently in Luxembourg called ‘double order’. This lets you now order from two different venues for the price of one delivery fee. Imagine that you want fried chicken, but your partner wants sushi, that’s now possible with one click in the app. This is just one way in which Wolt makes life easier for customers and at the same time provides added value to our partners, as well as more assignments for our courier partners,” said Etcheverry.
