Since launching in the Grand Duchy one year ago, Wolt has delivered more than 170,000 burger meals, nearly 60,000 pizzas, and expanded from 200 to nearly 600 restaurants available on the platform.

“The start in Luxembourg has been great and we’re delighted that so many people have tried the service over the past 12 months. We want to make cities better places to live by bringing convenience to customers, supporting local merchants and providing new, flexible ways to earn. We’re delighted with the pace of our growth in Luxembourg, it’s a fantastic story,” said Henrik Pankakoski, Regional General Manager at Wolt.

The five most popular restaurants (in random order) in Luxembourg are McDonald’s, Five Guys, Burger King, Simon Says Chicken and Souvlaki.

Wolt delivers from nearly 600 local restaurants, as well as grocery, wine, gourmet and wine shops, florists, chocolate shops and ice cream parlours—helping Luxembourg residents get what they need, whenever they need it, and fast.

“Since we launched in the capital in February last year, we now deliver to most of the country's population,” said Tomás Etcheverry, General Manager for Wolt Luxembourg.

Wolt launched home delivery of restaurant food in the capital on February 29th, 2024, and expanded to Esch-sur-Alzette in June and to Mersch in July last year. Currently, more than 80 percent of Luxembourg residents have access to Wolt delivery services.

While the number of groceries and other retail products is steadily increasing, restaurant food is still the backbone of Wolt’s operations in Luxembourg. The most popular product is hamburgers—since its launch, Wolt has delivered more than 170,000 hamburger meals across the country.

The ten most popular cuisines to have delivered in Luxembourg are:

  1. Hamburgers
  2. Pizza
  3. Kebab
  4. Italian
  5. Sandwiches
  6. Indian
  7. Greek
  8. Chicken
  9. Sushi
  10. Asian

The most popular single dish in the year that passed was the cheeseburger from Five Guys.

“The response from customers, restaurants, and couriers has been incredible, and we’re proud to be part of this vibrant community. Our mission has always been to make city life easier, and we look forward to growing and evolving even further,” said Tomás Etcheverry.

In the year ahead, Wolt aims to further expand the selection beyond restaurant food. The company founders have imagined the Wolt app as ‘a shopping mall in your pocket’ where customers can get whatever they need delivered to their home or workplace in 30 minutes or less.

“This opens up a whole new opportunity for local shops, who can offer fast delivery of their goods directly to customers while retaining control of the revenue stream. Customers also appreciate they’re purchasing from stores in their local community, not from some warehouse out in the fields or some faceless ecommerce giant abroad. For us, it’s all about bringing local commerce closer to people living in Luxembourgish communities,” said Etcheverry.
