Starting this May, Wolt, the technology company known for its local commerce platform, is officially entering the Romanian market. The transition from Tazz to Wolt will begin in selected cities and gradually roll out across the country, culminating in Bucharest, at the end of May. In total, Wolt will start operating in 35 cities throughout Romania.
“We're excited to bring Wolt's award-winning design to the Romanian audience and to improve people's everyday lives. From now on it will be easier than ever to enjoy the best of what your city has to offer – right at your fingertips and within user-friendly design” said Alin Șerban, General Manager, Wolt Romania.
Wolt’s journey began in 2014 as a small startup in Helsinki, Finland with six co-founders, and it has since evolved into a major player, supporting €19 billion in economic activity across its markets and making significant contributions to the economies in which it operates. Over the past decade, Wolt has partnered with more than 150,000 merchants, processing 700 million orders. For a closer look at Wolt's journey, read “A Decade Delivered” HERE.
Wolt will serve as an extension of Tazz, providing access to a broader range of services and a platform known for its strong functionality, solid operations, and user-friendly design. Restaurant partnerships previously available on Tazz will continue under Wolt, and users will still be able to enjoy the premium Genius benefits. Romania joins Wolt’s growing international network, which spans more than 30 countries today and employs over 13,000 people. The local rollout will rely on the company’s extensive experience in building high-performance delivery services across diverse markets.
The new Wolt app will provide access to a wide variety of categories — from prepared meals and groceries to pharmacy products, pet supplies, flowers, and more. The platform is known for its intuitive design, reliable logistics, fast delivery, and strong support for local merchants. These elements will now be available to users in Romania as part of Wolt’s integrated offering.
“Romania is one of the most dynamic markets in Central and Eastern Europe, and we’re proud to expand our presence here and build on the strong legacy of Tazz. With this transition, we aim to deliver long-term value not only to customers, merchants, and courier partners, but to the delivery platforms’ and e-commerce ecosystem in Romania,” said Matko Katanec, Regional General Manager, Central Region, Wolt.
Starting in May, existing Tazz users will be invited to download the Wolt app, available on both the App Store and Google Play. Their accounts, saved addresses, preferences and order history will be securely migrated. Wolt will also work closely with restaurant partners and couriers to ensure a smooth operational shift across all cities. Exact launch dates for the Wolt app in each city will be announced in due course.
