Helsinki, 22 October 2025 – Halloween has shifted from trick-or-treat to tap-and-deliver. Wolt’s 2024 order data* shows what really powered the night: orange LED lanterns and AA batteries outpaced sweets**; pumpkin-themed items jumped 2,000% in Japan***; Athens lit up with lanterns in under ten minutes; and Latvia’s standout pick: fluffy red handcuffs.
Every glamorous night needs its unglamorous essentials. Last year, orange LED lanterns and AA batteries quietly topped Wolt Market’s order charts**, outpacing even sweets and decorations. These low-key heroes powered porches, pumpkin displays, and Halloween moods across markets. Without them, the glow would have fizzled before the first knock on the door.
Halloween isn’t just fright, it’s full-on costume theatre. Georgia went fantasy with elf ears and wings, Lithuania kept it classic with witch hats, and Finland lit the night with glow kits. The wildcard? Latvia’s fluffy red handcuffs quietly stole a scene. And it’s not just humans suiting up: orders for pet-friendly accessories spiked, pumpkin-themed dog bandanas among the standouts** and one last-minute cat costume in Greece arrived in eight minutes. Proof the dress-up urge has four legs, too.
The pumpkin has officially gone global. After big surges in Poland, Denmark, and Sweden in 2023, Japan took it to another level in 2024 with a 2,000% increase in pumpkin-themed items***. From carving kits and lanterns to themed jars, pumpkins have become as essential as chocolate in October.
Chocolate still rules, but local favorites tell the real story. Sweden led Europe’s sweet tooth in 2024, with candy in 36% of October baskets. Nearby markets crowned their own champions: Finland picked Pirkka Strawberry Yogurt Chocolate, Denmark shifted to Gold Barre Orange Crunch, and Germany favored Kinder Maxi King. The maximalists went all in: Lithuania chose 50 Center Shock packs, Kazakhstan stocked up on as many as 200 Alpen Gold and Rahat bars. Call it a Moomin moment: Estonia counted 60 Moomin lollipops, while Finland went full Moomin with a single order of 196.
For the truly last-minute shoppers, Wolt proved its speed****. The scramble got even more creative: pumpkin lights in Athens, witch hats in Cyprus, skeleton kits in Tallinn and Helsinki, slime and vampire sets in Malta. Estonia even ordered tattoos in six bursts- all delivered in under 15 minutes. One standout: Malta used cookie cutters to whip up “spookie” treats just minutes before guests arrived.
Behind the glow, the sugar, and the costumes is the quiet machinery that makes it work. From nostalgic chocolate bars to glow-in-the-dark props, Wolt has become the hidden helper of Halloween, delivering with speed and ease, to ensure that pumpkins are carved, bowls are filled, lights stay on and, occasionally, that cats arrive at the party in costume.
