- New partnership brings REWE’s assortment directly to customers via Wolt – available from five stores in Cologne, with more stores and cities to follow
- Customers can order a wide range of groceries for delivery in up to one hour
- Collaboration marks a key milestone in Wolt’s retail expansion in Germany
Helsinki - September 15. 2026 – German grocery retailer REWE is significantly expanding its Wolt partnership with the launch of the new “REWE Sofort-Lieferung” (“Express Delivery”) service. Customers can now order their groceries directly through Wolt for delivery in under an hour.
The “Express Delivery” option will be available via the Wolt app in Cologne, initially from five REWE stores, with additional locations and cities set to follow in the coming months.
Customers will have access to an extensive REWE assortment – from fresh fruit and vegetables and dairy products, to frozen and convenience foods. Orders are picked directly at the respective REWE store and then delivered via Wolt.
The news comes after Wolt’s first-ever Retail Report, published last week, revealed it has surpassed 230 million retail orders, with more than two million people now buying retail products through the app each month.
Panos Karouzos, Vice President of New Verticals at Wolt, says: “On-demand grocery is becoming an increasingly important part of many customers’ lives. We’re delighted to welcome REWE to the Wolt platform, helping customers access the products they know and value while enabling REWE to reach new audiences."
The partnership builds on an existing collaboration between Wolt and REWE. Independent REWE retailers in Stuttgart and Munich already have their stores on Wolt, and since March, Kölner Weinkeller, a subsidiary of the REWE Group, has also been available on the platform.
For REWE, “Express Delivery” is another building block in its e-food strategy, as alongside REWE stores, its own delivery service, click & collect service and REWE Drive, the company looks to further expand the ways customers can shop for groceries online.
“Our customers today expect to be able to order groceries as easily and flexibly as fits their everyday lives. With these new platform partnerships, we are creating additional shopping options precisely where spontaneous demand arises,” says Clemens Bauer, Director REWE E-Food. “From our tests, we know that fruit and vegetables, milk and dairy products, as well as convenience foods, are among the most popular categories for spontaneous purchases. And these are precisely where REWE’s strengths lie.”
For Wolt, the partnership with REWE marks a key milestone in the expansion of its retail business in Germany, building on the technology company’s broader evolution in recent years beyond restaurant delivery into a platform for local commerce. Today, in addition to groceries, customers can find electronics, flowers, toys, fashion, health & beauty products, as well as other everyday essentials on the platform.
Retail now accounts for more than a quarter of Wolt’s global sales*, with more than 40,000 retail venues active on the platform at the end of 2025**, up 43% year-on-year. Wolt’s Retail Report also found that six in ten retail customers order again the following month, while 48% of grocery baskets now contain ten or more items, as customers increasingly treat Wolt as a full shop destination.
Alongside the launch of “Express Delivery” with Wolt in Cologne, REWE is introducing the service via other delivery platforms in other German cities.
