FEBRUARY 8 – HELSINKI, FINLAND | Helsinki-based local commerce company Wolt announced the appointment of two key leaders who will spearhead its efforts to become a weekly grocery shopping destination across 25 markets.
Antonia Degerlund has been named as the Interim Head of Partner Grocery, taking charge of Wolt’s grocery partnership side. Previously, Degerlund led operational excellence for Wolt Market and the company's partner retail, ramping up the company’s global operations. Wolt collaborates with a wide range of grocery partners, including well-known names such as Rimi, Kesko, Carrefour, and Spar. The role is brand new, emphasizing the grocery area’s importance to Wolt.
Athanasios Bilalis has been appointed as the new Global Head for Wolt Market, the company’s own grocery stores. Prior to his new role, Bilalis was in charge of Wolt Market in the Mediterranean region, enabling its fast growth in Greece, Cyprus and Malta. Wolt originally launched Wolt Market in Helsinki in 2020 and today the concept is available in over 20 countries.
“I’m very happy to be able to welcome both Antonia and Athanasios into their new roles and start leading our grocery business together. Over the past few years, we’ve built a strong foundation for the area and now it’s time to shift gears to become even more helpful for our partners and customers across countries,” says Panagiotis Karouzos, Head of New Verticals at Wolt, who leads the company’s retail business.
"Our goal is to become a weekly shopping destination across 25 countries and allow the customer to turn to us with any need they have. Besides bringing the customer a wide selection of partners, we’re working hard to build tools and technology for the stores to ensure they can always offer a world-class shopping experience. We’re very happy with how things have progressed but there’s still plenty for us to do in this sector,” he continues.
