Helsinki, Finland – 2025-08-06 — Wolt, a technology company known for its delivery platform operating in over 30 countries, today announced two new strategic partnerships with EIT Food, Europe’s leading food innovation initiative, and the European Federation of Food Banks (FEBA). These partnerships mark a significant step forward in Wolt’s sustainability and social impact agenda, with a shared mission to build a more sustainable, equitable, and resilient food system across Europe.

Food is central to everything we do at Wolt — not just as a product we deliver, but as a powerful connector between people, communities, and the planet, said Jamieson Saab, Global Head of Sustainability at Wolt. With these partnerships, we’re expanding our efforts beyond packaging and emissions, and focusing on tangible, systemic change — from tackling food waste and food insecurity to driving greater transparency across our ecosystem.

Reducing Food Waste and Driving Innovation with EIT Food

Through its partnership with EIT Food, Wolt will collaborate on initiatives aimed at  introducing sustainable packaging solutions, and reducing food waste. Co-funded by the European Union and founded in 2016, EIT Food brings together diverse players across the food value chain — including startups, research institutions, and corporations — to accelerate innovation and promote long-term food system transformation.

We support projects, people, and organizations that align with our mission to create positive impact – fast and at scale, said Katarzyna Sypniewska from EIT Food. Together with Wolt, we aim to drive collaboration and deliver real solutions to some of the most pressing food system challenges.

Fighting Food Insecurity with the European Federation of Food Banks

Simultaneously, Wolt is joining forces with FEBA, a non-profit organization supporting a network of over 30 national food banks across Europe. This partnership aims to strengthen food assistance systems, minimize surplus food waste, and provide new channels of support for vulnerable communities.

With nearly 38 million people in the EU facing food insecurity, Wolt and FEBA will work together to explore new concepts such as a virtual food bank, emergency preparedness initiatives, and enhanced food redistribution processes for Wolt Markets.

Supporting local food banks is a natural fit for us, said Saab. This partnership enables us to use our platform and technology to channel surplus food to where it’s needed most — and to give our customers the opportunity to contribute meaningfully along the way.

A Shared Vision for Impact

Both partnerships reflect Wolt’s broader sustainability strategy, which focuses on reducing its environmental footprint, supporting local communities, and enabling better choices for customers and partners alike.

These are long-term collaborations that go beyond one-time campaigns, Saab added. By joining forces with EIT Food and FEBA, we aim to bring meaningful, scalable innovation to how Europe’s food system operates — from farm to fork, and everything in between.
